International Development Enterprises (IDE) is
a non-profit, non-governmental organization launched in 1981 and
registered in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Switzerland. IDE has offices
in Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, and Zambia, and
operational headquarters in Denver, U.S.
Mission and strategy. IDE’s global
mission is to enable prosperity for rural families by helping them invest
their way out of poverty. Our projects are market driven. IDE stimulates
demand for ideas and technologies through sophisticated rural mass
marketing and builds networks of small-scale private sector enterprises to
provide the products and services rural families need.
IDE Vietnam
Since 1991, IDE has worked in 15 provinces throughout
Vietnam. IDE is fully registered with the government of Vietnam with a
permit for the establishment of a representative office. The organization
has offices in northern and central Vietnam, including an administrative
and marketing team in Hanoi, a central program office in Hue, and field
offices in Thanh Hoa and Quang Nam. IDE has a core team of 20 local and
one international staff member as well as a network of local and
international experts used to complement in-house skills.
Organizational structure. Poverty Alleviation
and Water and Sanitation are IDE Vietnam’s two core program areas.
IDE’s Director of Programs manages projects from the Hue office, giving
IDE a strong presence in the field. IDE’s Marketing team conducts social
marketing projects in northern Vietnam and provides cross-cutting support
in implementation and technical assistance to the Poverty Alleviation and
Water and Sanitation programs. The Monitoring and Evaluation and Finance
and Administration teams provide necessary support to all of IDE
Vietnam’s work.
